Turn-by-turn directions

At the starting point, Vicosoprano sports hall, follow the Via Panoramica sign towards Soglio. At the beginning, the climb is panoramic, but the terrain is less spectacular, as the trail leads up along an agricultural road to the village of Durbegia. After Durbegia comes the exciting section, over hill and dale with small ascents and descents to Soglio. About halfway between Durbegia and Soglio you pass Parlongh, where you have the option of completing the short version of the Gigathlon trail stage and descending via a steep trail to Montaccio and returning via Coltura to Vicosoprano. This shortens the route by about half the total length. If you want to do the whole trail, follow the narrow path to Soglio. Once in Soglio, cross the village with its historic cobblestone alleys, past the beautiful little church of San Lorenzo. Now continue on the cantonal road for about 50 m and then descend on a beautiful forest path through chestnut woods to Brentan. Continue to the border village of Castasegna, past Villa Garbald.  After crossing Castasegna, a road subway brings you to the north side of the valley. You quickly reach the mountain village of Bondo by road and trail. As in Soglio, the village is characterised by narrow streets. The idyllic village is somewhat marred by the current large construction site, which is repairing the damage caused by the Cengalo landslide in 2017. From Bondo you walk over a suspension bridge to Promontogno. In Promontogno, you pass Crotti and the town hall until you reach the end of the village. From here, you again reach the last section of the trail between Borgonovo and Vicosoprano on field and small country roads via the hamlet of Caccior and the village of Stampa called Coltura. In Vicosoprano you have to take a deep breath because you have reached your destination.
