Short but demanding mountain tour to a 3000m peak from the Capanna del Forno (T5 I). Wonderful low view of the Forno glacier and the surrounding Bergell granite peaks.

The Capanna del Forno (Forno Hut) in Bergell is the starting point for numerous demanding alpine tours, but alpine hikers also get their money's worth here. The Capanna del Forno's hut keeper has marked and secured paths to numerous surrounding peaks, including the alpine hiking trail to Monte Rosso (not to be confused with the neighbouring Cima di Rosso, high tour WS), which was opened in 2017. The previously tricky and pathless tour through the western flank of Monte Rosso has been upgraded with steel chains and iron bars for climbing. The short scramble over the summit ridge over solid granite boulders is great fun! An ideal tour to start or end a high-altitude weekend in the Forno area or simply as an addition to a hut hike.
