Monte del Forno

The 3213 m high Monte del Forno lies in the upper Val Forno at the beginning of the Forno glacier and offers an excellent view of the mighty ice stream, the second largest glacier in Graubünden. The path to the summit was marked in an exemplary manner by the hosts of the Capanna del Forno in 2015, and the snag at the summit was made safe with a stable chain and footbridges. For the less experienced, a via ferrata set is recommended for belaying. The loop along the panorama and valley trail is long, so it is advisable to spend the night at the beautifully situated hut. From the Capanna del Forno you can reach two other attractive glacier-free alpine hiking destinations, Monte Rosso and Piz Casnil. On the Rück trail through Val Forno, a few trail variations can be incorporated.
