From Surlej, the Corvatsch cable car brings you back up to the middle station Murtèl where this stage begins. The path descends briefly but steeply before following along the slope over to Alp Prasüra while always providing a fantastic view of the blue lakes of the Upper Engadin. At Alp Prasüra the path then descends to the village of Sils passing many beautiful Engadin houses. At the church of San Lurench in Sils Baselgia, you cross the main road and follow the Via Engiadina first through a beautiful larch forest and then up to the viewpoint at Muotta. Here is a bench situated just right to take a break and enjoy the view from the Bergell granite mountains over to Muottas Muragl.

A short descent then leads to the village of Grevasalvas, where one of the first Heidi movies was filmed. A road then continues up to Blaunca. While on this route, the Piz Lunghin, on which the Inn river has its source, is always in front of you, while the view of Lake of Sils is behind you. At Plan di Zoch, the hiking trail leads down to Maloja, the end point of this panoramic long distance hike.

Author’s recommendation

This stage is particularly beautiful in autumn, when the larches glow golden.
