Cima di Castello - Crossing from the Albigna to the Forno Hut

Glaciers and granite, that is an apt description of the Bergell mountains. They lie in the wild and lonely south of Graubünden and have the second longest glacier in Graubünden after the Bernina group. This tour takes us from the Capanna da l'Albigna to the second highest peak of the Bergell mountains and down to the Capanna del Forno via the impressive Forno glacier. Both huts offer an excellent view of the glacier and a slightly Italian flair. The Überschreitung between the huts is long and rarely done. However, those who like to walk on glaciers will get their money's worth on this tour. It is advisable to do the tour early in the season, as the descent to the Forno glacier can be unpleasant in bare ice.
